Choosing lanterns: shape, colour and size
Compare three shapes in orange. Select a photo to see that lantern.

Three shapes in orange. These separate product photographs are not shown to scale; use them to compare shape and colour, not dimensions.
Start with the space. Do you want one lantern above a table, repeated shapes or a mixed group?
Shape and colour
For a mixed group, start with two shapes and compare their outlines before adding more. Our product selection includes Round, UFO, Tube and Diamond. Use the photograph alongside the name and compare the proportions when open.
Photograph the setting and consider its existing colours. Should the lanterns blend in or stand out? Compare one colour in different shapes, then one shape in another colour. Changing one thing at a time helps you identify your preference. A shared colour name does not guarantee identical-looking shades in every photograph.
Folded length is not diameter
Check which measurement is listed: folded length, open height or open width. These describe different dimensions.
Keep folded length, open height and open width separate. Use diameter only where that measurement is confirmed. Some existing product names include a diameter symbol (Ø); do not silently interpret it as folded length. If the name and dimensions are unclear, request the measurements of the specific version.
Check the space and intended use
Record the available height and width. Include a familiar object in your location photograph, such as a table or doorway. If scale is unclear, request the open dimensions or a photograph of the chosen version beside a tape measure.
Say whether you want decoration alone or internal lighting. A product photograph does not establish which bulb, fitting or cable is included or suitable. Also state whether the location is indoors or outdoors: the chosen version needs to suit its intended location.
What to share for a proposal
Send your location photograph, available space, preferred shapes and colours, lighting wishes, and indoor or outdoor use. Say whether you want to buy or hire; for hire, include the date. The selection, quantities and any lighting can then be checked for the proposal.
Practical questions
How do I hire or enquire about buying?
Open the collection and choose your lantern. The hire link opens that item in the Dutch Eventmaat shop. For buying, use the purchase enquiry in the collection and include your chosen item references and quantities.
Where can I compare shapes and sizes?
Use the shape links and search in the collection. Search for a shape, colour or size from the product name. Open the item details to check what its measurements describe.
My folding lantern will not open. What should I do?
For the model with bamboo ribs, a steel frame and a wooden top ring with two opposite slots: do not force it. Check whether the bamboo is pushed inwards or caught. For large lanterns, fold the bamboo outwards first. Follow the illustrated opening guide; it does not cover Roestie lanterns or other fastenings.
I cannot find a price or availability for my date. What should I send?
Email info@eventmaat.com with the product link or item reference, quantity, and whether you want to buy or hire. For hire, include the date. Ask for the price and availability of that selection.
